Jing allows the user to record video, capture images, edit them, and upload them to various websites.[6] Possible uses for Jing include sharing a screen snapshot, narrating vacation photos, capturing a computer bug in action, and in the case of a teacher, showing students how to do a task and commenting verbally on a students homework.[7] It only supports saving to SWF (flash files). Jing is freeware.[8]
TechSmith Corporation is a software company developing screenshooting, screencasting and video editing software, for Windows and macOS, and licensing them to corporations, educational institutions, government agencies and small businesses.[1] The company was founded in Okemos, Michigan in 1987 by William Hamilton.[2] In 1990 they created Snagit, their most popular and best-selling product.[citation needed] TechSmith is now helmed by William Hamilton's daughter, Wendy Hamilton.
The flipped classroom is a concept in education (see Flip teaching). Clintondale High School, in Clinton Township, Mich., is the first to fully embrace this concept in 2011 in an effort to raise the school's failing grades. TechSmith products were used as their primary software, and the company also gave the school a grant to start the program. Teachers record lessons online for the students to watch at home and then the students come to class to do their homework. The videos normally consist of an overview of the lesson, the content and concludes with a summary. Voice, video clips, images and annotations can be included via TechSmith products like Camtasia to enhance the lesson. Camtasia and Relay give teachers the ability to share their content on a variety of platforms. Students can view the lessons on any computer or mobile device.[11] This gives the students more class time with their teachers to work through problems rather than trying to work them out alone at home.
After capturing a presentation in the Camtasia Recorder, the Camtasia component can be used to modify audio and video displayed as tracks by using the timeline control and object library interface with an integrated preview window. The image in the infobox to the right is a screen capture of the timeline interface. In addition, Camtasia allows automatic captions (speech-to-text), voice overlay for the presenter or editor, as well as the ability to add sound effects in many different formats, including music formats into the clip bin and arrange anywhere on the timeline.

Camtasia Studio v8.0.0 for Windows was released on 19 June 2012, and updated until v8.6.0 of 25 August 2015.[4] Camtasia 9.0.0 was released on 11 October 2016, updated until v9.1.2 of 13 March 2018, with later bugfix versions up to v9.1.5 of 7 May, 2019. Later versions are named for the year, with Camtasia 2018.0.0 released on 19 June 2018 and updated until 2018.0.8 of 7 May 2019, and Camtasia 2019.0.0 released on 30 April 2019.
Screencast.com is TechSmith's private image and video hosting service. A person can store their content on the servers for personal or commercial usage at no charge.[9] The free site offers control over privacy levels, links for content URL's and embed code, content view numbers and allows other users to comment on videos.[7][10] Free accounts receive 2 GB storage and 2 GB bandwidth, but they may purchase more.[10]

When you’re doing a tutorial or game session, and you want the audience to see your expressions, CS can help with that. Use the picture-in-picture mode to create a video showing your instructions on screen. Another cool thing when using this is that Camtasia can split the recorded file into two separate tracks. One for your talking head and one is the actual content. You can edit each of them as an entire project.

Camstudio falls into this latter category. If Stephen Spielberg were to take screenshots instead of make films then he'd probably use something along the lines of this app. Camstudio is an excellent and fully comprehensive screenshot solution for anyone that needs to go beyond simple illustration and really needs to show the end user exactly how to use an application on program.
At the beginning of 2015, CamStudio installation was still distributing a malicious software, though the prior uninfected installers could be obtained from SourceForge. The installer used by CamStudio also appeared to violate the conditions set forth in the first offer, not only changing all search engines and homepages to Yahoo - the stated actions - but installing a batch script to ensure that the homepages and search providers could never be set back.[needs update]
It's an excellent choice for those that have to provide technical support or developer who have to design tutorials to explain how to use their programs. The range of output files is admittedly limited - CamStudio will only output in AVI format but you can also convert movies to Flash (SWF). You can also choose the codecs used to encode your screen capture shots and set the frame rate you need to capture at.
As mentioned before, screen recording tools have become quite integral in the design of an eLearning program. Text-to-speech tools represent another type of software eLearning professionals exploit when crafting their online training course. Read the article Top 10 Text-To-Speech (TTS) Software For eLearning and get informed on the best text-to-speech software in the market.

Contemporary online training programs are quite versatile and comprise a combination of features such as videos, pictures, graphics and text. Screen recording tools help eLearning professionals record and edit different parts of their computer screen and use them as they see fit. Quite essential and time-saving, as this reduces their need to design videos or graphics from scratch by using or modifying the ones available on the Internet. Screen recording tools also enable eLearning professionals to create video files in many different formats so that all users will be able to access them. Here are the top 10 free Camtasia Studio alternatives that are bound to make the design of your eLearning course quite easier without burdening your eLearning budget at all.
Ordinary screen captures are performed in much the same way as in most screen capture applications. Simply drag the mouse over the area you want to capture or tap in the coordinates. You can of course add text and for more complicated motion captures, a useful auto-tracking feature follows the movement of the mouse without you having to do a thing.
Screen recording and video editing tools are quite imperative in eLearning. Camtasia Studio is one of the best, but it’s quite pricey and not very appropriate for tight eLearning budgets. Not to worry though, as there is a great deal of alternatives that come on no expense at all. In this article, I’ll present the top 10 free Camtasia Studio alternatives.

TechSmith launched a web show in August 2010. Common topics of conversation include screen capture, screencasting, various tools and techniques. There are normally guests either over Skype or in person. The first guest was Jon Udell, a Microsoft Evangelist and long-time screencaster who helped come up with the term screencasting.[14] The Forge is hosted on YouTube as well as TechSmith's Visual Lounge (blog site). Matt Pierce hosts the show. The format normally consists of interviews, promotions, and product reviews. Videos created from other users are sometimes featured on the show as well.[15]
In March 2016, the developers of CamStudio reported via forum post that the ad wrapper in the CamStudio installer had been removed and that it no longer offers third-party software or installs malware; however, they did not provide evidence of independent verification in the post.[11] In a VirusTotal analysis of the installer acquired from the official download URL on 10 August 2016, AVware, Dr. Web and VIPRE antivirus tools said it was infected with "InstallCore" while the remaining 51 said it was clean.[12][13]
LOTS of errors. I know it's good software, and I would definitely recommend it, it has too many errors. Just today I tried to record my webcam, and got "An unexpected error has occurred. Capture cannot be started". I have searched for answers and typically could not find any. Sometimes when I edit clips they crash the software and then I lose sometimes hours of hard work.
