Why would a recording software have its default setting to not record the audio??!?!?!?!?? This has got to be one of the worst software design decisions I have ever had the misfortune to come across. I downloaded this software to record a family member's singing stream and it was not until I went to watch it later that I discovered it did not record the audio. This is a moment I will never be able to recover. Just because you give something away for free does not make it acceptable to make a crappy product. P.S. SourceForge, why do you not warn your users that this recording software has a no audio default setting?

Recording your screen is the main purpose of CS, so it’s super easy to do. This is useful for business and personal projects. You can capture your whole screen or just a part of it. One of the most useful features Camtasia has is the mini toolbar that pops out in record mode. It helps you set up your screen before starting. Make necessary preparations like ratio adjustments or screen lock before you record.
Jing allows the user to record video, capture images, edit them, and upload them to various websites.[6] Possible uses for Jing include sharing a screen snapshot, narrating vacation photos, capturing a computer bug in action, and in the case of a teacher, showing students how to do a task and commenting verbally on a students homework.[7] It only supports saving to SWF (flash files). Jing is freeware.[8]
Camtasia ( /kæmˈteɪʒə/) (formerly Camtasia Studio) is a software suite, created and published by TechSmith, for creating video tutorials and presentations directly via screencast, or via a direct recording plug-in to Microsoft PowerPoint. The screen area to be recorded can be chosen freely, and audio or other multimedia recordings may be recorded at the same time or added separately from any other source and integrated in the Camtasia component of the product. Both versions of Camtasia started as enhanced screen capture programs and have evolved to integrate screen capture and post-processing tools targeted at the educational and information multimedia development marketplace.

In 2003, the company was acquired by eHelp Corporation who owned a competing product called RoboDemo (now called Adobe Captivate[4][5][6]). eHelp Corporation released an updated version as CamStudio 2.1 under a proprietary software license only and removed the ability to create SWFs.[7] A succession of acquisitions led to the company being owned by Adobe.

Tap the plus button or a caption box to keep viewers on the hook with descriptive and compelling text overlaid on your video and photos. The split screen, single caption, and title and text layouts all allow for text over your images. Don’t forget the voice narration feature, either—just click and hold the microphone button on each slide for vocals to accompany that slide.
In Camtasia editor, multimedia objects of various formats can be imported into the clip library and arrange them in time order and stacked tracks using the timeline form of user controls. Overlays of various types may be added, including user-defined settings, such as when and how to display the cursor and pan-and-zoom effects such as the Ken Burns effect. Camtasia for Windows v8 and Camtasia for Mac v2 offer options to enhance sections of the recorded screen to draw attention via a cursor or drawn-in pointer to highlight section(s) of the screen or to better illustrate the actions of the presenter on the screen. Another feature is the ability to save media clips within the library tab, keeping a user from having to repeatedly import commonly-used media clips/files.
